Personal profile

About

Dr. Amelia (Amy) was a biological anthropologist with interests in dental (teeth) and genetic (DNA) variation to interpret patterns of population movement, interaction, and exchange in past populations. Her research encompasses both biological anthropology and teaching pedagogy. Amy had been a leader in adapting her large general education course to the “SCALE-UP” format and uses audience response technology, interactive and inventive lab assignments, and other means to keep students engaged in the course material. Outside of the classroom, she involves undergraduate students in her professional projects and has taken students to present at professional conferences, both locally and nationally. Amy joined the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in Fall of 2012, and she enjoyed both her students' enthusiasm for learning and the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives that they brought to her classroom.
