About
Berkwood M. Farmer was Dean of the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio (from 2001 to 2012) and is now a member of the Economics faculty at Wright State. Prior to coming to Dayton, he served as Dean of the College of Business and Economics at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia for ten years.
Dr. Farmer Received a Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University. During his academic career, he has served on the faculty of the U.S. Military Academy, West point, New York and the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Farmer has also served as the Chief Agricultural Economist for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Dr. Farmer has been very active in economic development and community activities. He is currently a member of the Miami Valley Venture Funds Board of Advisors, Greene Foundation Board of Directors, Springboro Schools Superintendent’s Advisory Board, and Advisory Board of UBS, Inc., Richmond, Virginia. He was a founding director of a bank in Virginia; former member of the Board of Directors for Virginia Region BB&T Bank; and was a member of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors in Virginia for eight years. During 1966, he served as a military officer in South Vietnam.
He continues to be very active with AACSB International (professional accrediting body for business schools) as a member of numerous Peer Review Teams and the Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) (2006-2009).
He and his wife Terri live in Springboro. Their daughter Bradley graduated from Springboro High School in 2011 and is a junior at Wright State University majoring in musical theatre.
