About
John P. Blair is Professor of Economics at Wright State University. He lives near campus in Riverside, Ohio and has been at Wright State since 1981.
He received his Ph.D. in Economics from West Virginia University, specializing in regional economics and public finance. Prior to joining the faculty of Wright State, Blair served as a Policy Analyst in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Washington, D.C. He also taught real estate and urban economics at the University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee.
Dr. Blair received the Distinguished Alumni Scholar award from West Virginia University's Regional Research Institute in 1995. The College of Business and Administration at Wright State awarded him the Belinda A. Burns Faculty Scholar Award for the years 1993-95. He also received the Bloomberg Award for futures studies for his work on planning and urban futures. Recently Blair was presented with the Roepke Award by the American Economic Development Council for his article, "Local Economic Development and National Growth".
Blair's long standing interest has been in urban development, with a particular concern for the prospects of low and moderate income individuals. Dr. Blair believes that futures analysis is essential to planning and policy.
