About

Karla Huebner was an Associate Professor of Art History, specializing in the period 1750-present. She received her MA from American University in Washington, DC and her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research grants and fellowships included Fulbright-Hays DDRA and an Andrew Mellon Predoctoral fellowship. She presented conference papers in England, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, and the United States, at such venues as the College Art Association, the Association of Art Historians (UK), the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, the Berkshire Women's History Conference, and the European Association of Urban Historians. In the past she published on Minoan art in Anistoriton and reviewed books for Women Artists News; recent work includes articles in Journal of Women's History, Aspasia, and Papers of Surrealism, plus a chapter in the book The New Woman International.  Her research interests included Czech modernism, surrealism, and gender and sexuality.
