Shehzad A Saeed, MD, FAAP, AGAF is currently a Professor of Pediatrics at Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright State University, Associate Chief Medical Office, Chief Medical Value Based Care Officer and Physician Lead for Patient Experience at Dayton Children’s Hospital and Medical Director, Dayton Children’s Health Partners.
He is a graduate of Dow Medical College and served his pediatric residency at University of Chicago, Chicago, and pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at Floating Hospital for Children, New England Medical Center, Tufts University, Boston. He has served as Fellowship and Division Director, with a focus on Quality Improvement, outcomes and improving processes of care for children with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). He currently has funding from Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute for 2 studies- assessing effect of combination therapy in pediatric Crohn’s disease and effect of specific carbohydrate diet on children with IBD. He serves in leadership roles in ImproveCareNow Network-an international Quality Improvement network comprising of 109 centers across the world (North America, Europe and Qatar) as well as chair of the Public Education committee of North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. He also is an active member of Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA), serving in various committees, and is the past chair of the Greater Cincinnati chapter of APPNA. He is also actively involved in the alumni organization of Dow Medical College-DOGANA, including serving on the Board of the Dow Endowment Fund. He has authored/co-authored several peer reviewed papers, book chapters, and is co-editor of books on pediatric IBD. Mentoring, teaching, patient advocacy/ empowerment, and QI remain cornerstone of Dr Saeed’s focus and clinical care.
