Abstract

Interfacial misfit dislocations between the Al75Ni10Fe15 decagonal quasicrystal and a crystalline surface layer structure have been studied by transmission electron microscopy. The interfacial misfit dislocations between the Al13(Fe, Ni)4 crystalline phase and the layer structure have also been observed. The layered structure is of the B2 type cubic phase and was introduced during the sample thinning by ion-milling. These misfit dislocations are in the side of the layered structure with the line direction parallel to 〈112〉 axes and the Burgers vector of b=12〈111〉.〈111〉
