Acceptance and Change With Suicidal Adolescents - A Review of Dialectical Behavior Therapy With Suicidal Adolescents

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

To say that dealing with adolescents is challenging is an understatement. Adolescence is often a developmentally challenging time for families, teachers, and friends, to say nothing of the turmoil experienced by most adolescents. However, dealing with an adolescent who is repeatedly in crisis, suicidal, or engaging in nonsuicidal self-injurious behavior is enough to tax all involved to their limits. The emotional, economic, and life-threatening costs become enormous. Alec L. Miller, Jill H. Rathus, and Marsha M. Linehan take on this challenge directly and effectively in their book Dialectical Behavior Therapy With Suicidal Adolescents.
