Announcing ANA’s Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, Third Edition

We invite all registered nurses (RNs) to embrace ANA’s Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, Third Edition , describing professionalism, safety, and quality care. As the premier organization for RNs, ANA brings nurses together to advance their careers and the profession through standard setting, advocacy, and professional development. In keeping with this role, ANA develops and maintains the scope and standards for professional nursing practice. To achieve this accountability, ANA issues a call to its members to review, revise, and maintain the relevance of this document and to raise the bar for the practice of nursing. This document is published in part to achieve nursing’s contract with society and to provide a unifying approach to the practice of nursing in any setting and for any human condition.
