Abstract
Both professional associations and academic departments have been criticized for their lack of membership collective levels of coordinated professional goal orientation and shared collaborative efforts (Hamilton, 2002, Leicht and Fennell, 2001). This neglect of professional association and academic department social capital has resulted in fragmented and substandard performance that has provoked public demands for accountability (Adler and Kwon, 2002, Trank and Rynes, 2003).
