Abstract

We present our compilation of electron-impact cross sections for use in modeling the ionospheres/thermospheres of the Earth and planets. The sixteen species included are N 2 , O 2 , O, CO 2 , CO, NO, Ar, C, N, H, H 2 , He, CH 4 , C 2 H 2 , C 2 H 4 , and C 2 H 6 . The processes include electron-impact vibrational excitation, electronic excitation, ionization, ionization and excitation, and dissociative ionization. A table for each species is presented that includes the processes and the cross section references. Plots of selected cross sections are also shown.
