Abstract

The Glen Helen Diatom handbook describes several species of microscopic algae found in the Yellow Springs Creek that runs through the Glen Helen Nature Preserve.  The 1000-acre Preserve in Yellow Springs, Ohio has facilities for recreation, education, and research.  The handbook describes diatom biology and the associated terminology.  It contains sketches, photographs, and descriptions of the shells of ten species of diatoms.
