Abstract
Brain Trauma Foundation guidelines advocate for the use of intracranial
pressure (ICP) monitoring following traumatic brain injury (TBI) in patients with a GCS > 8 and an abnormal CT scan. The absence of 24 hour in-house Neurosurgery coverage could however negatively impact timely monitor placement. We reviewed our experience with placement of ICP bolts by Trauma Surgeons who had been trained and credentialed in their insertion.
