The Nitrogen Dayglow on Mars

Abstract

The ultraviolet dayglow spectrum arising from emission of N 2 in the Mars atmosphere is predicted. The intensities are such that a high-resolution spectrum should readily reveal the presence of N 2 at the abundances suggested by the Viking experiments.
